Hampta Pass Trek – 5-Day Itinerary

🗓️ Day 1: Drive from Manali to Jobra | Trek to Chika (2–3 hours)

  • Altitude: 10,100 ft
  • Trek Distance: 2 km
  • Drive Time: ~2 hours

Your journey begins in Manali, a scenic hill town that serves as the base. A short drive takes you to Jobra, the starting point of the trek. The walk to Chika campsite is gentle and picturesque, passing through pine forests and riverside trails.

🗓️ Day 2: Chika to Balu Ka Ghera (4–5 hours)

  • Altitude: 11,900 ft
  • Trek Distance: 8 km

Trek through the wildflower meadows of Jwara, cross glacial streams, and reach Balu Ka Ghera (“bed of sand”). The terrain opens up here with clear views of surrounding peaks.

Great spot for stargazing and acclimatization.

🗓️ Day 3: Balu Ka Ghera to Hampta Pass and descend to Shea Goru (8–9 hours)

🗓️ Day 4: Shea Goru to Chatru (3–4 hours) | Drive to Chandratal (optional)

  • Trek Distance: 5 km
  • Drive (optional): 3 hours (Chatru to Chandratal, weather permitting)

Descend along a moraine path to Chatru, where you rejoin the road. If the roads are open and weather is favorable, drive to the crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake, one of the most scenic lakes in the Himalayas.

Chandratal is known for its changing colors and high-altitude beauty.

Day 5: Drive from Chatru/Chandratal to Manali

  • Drive Time: 6–7 hours
  • Drive back through Rohtang Pass or Atal Tunnel to return to Manali, concluding your adventure.
